The quality of color
Hue, tone, saturation and evenness all matter. Saturated pinks, blues and greens are particularly scarce; slight color differences can affect value substantially.

← Back to VELMÉA COLORNATURAL FANCY COLOR DIAMONDS
Fancy color diamonds appear in yellow, pink, blue and many other hues. Subtle changes in hue, tone and saturation give each stone its own character. At VELMÉA, we consider the way that character comes alive in a finished jewel and on the person who wears it.
RARITY & VALUE
A color name alone never tells the whole story. Each stone deserves careful comparison and reliable documentation.
Hue, tone, saturation and evenness all matter. Saturated pinks, blues and greens are particularly scarce; slight color differences can affect value substantially.
It is important to establish whether color is natural or treated, and whether a diamond is natural or laboratory-grown. An independent gemological report helps clarify those distinctions.
Carat weight, cut, clarity, shape and light performance all play a part. Larger stones are generally rarer, but numbers alone cannot replace the beauty of the whole stone or the balance of the finished jewel.
Market value varies by the individual stone, its report and market demand. Future prices and resale value cannot be guaranteed.
